Week 5 A Woman’s Heart

March 7, 2008 at 12:21 am (A Womans's Heart, God's Dwelling Place, Studies)

I struggled with a question on the first and second day homework.   On page #117, “what did Christ die to do (see Rom. 5:8)?  It’s multiple choice, but I think two might be correct.   Is ‘making us perfect’ the same as righteousness?  I know WE are not perfect, but Christ is.  I thought ’save us from sin’ could also be correct.   I might be OVERthinking it too.

On page 120, What was Moses’ explanation to Aaron for God’s action in verse 3?  All three seemed like good choices, although the third “God will be worshiped only in holiness” seemed to fit the scripture??  Maybe I’m just tired and need to sleep on these questions.

I was surprised to read ‘we never have the right to simply chat with God’ but understanding the role of Christ as intercessor was enlightening.  I still stumble when praying, and learning this connection has been very good for me.  I didn’t grow up in church, and it’s still a little muddy at times.   I am unable to answer “Can you sense when God is pleased with your worship, and if so, how?”   I am just not sure.    Does anyone else struggle with this?

Overall, this study has been SO good.   I love seeing the Old Testament connect with the New Testament and am in awe of how this book really is a living word!!  The more I learn,  I realize how much more I have to learn about God and I am excited and inspired and completely humbled!!  I’m glad to be on this journey with so many delightful ladies in my group.

Thanks for starting this discussion! Sometimes Beth’s questions are sort of confusing.

I think the answer to the question on page 117 is Christ died to “save us from sin”…because the verse in Romans actually says “While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
I see your point for perfection/righteousness…and I believe that is His ultimate goal, although it won’t be completed until we are in Heaven. We won’t see that ultimate healing unless we have first accepted his death in our place. His death was to SAVE us from most important problem we have in this life…that of our sin nature.

I think you are right about the Moses question… That God will only be worshipped in holiness.

How humbling it is to read that we do not have the right to simply chat with God. But seeing him burn people up just because they lit their incense with strange fire is unbelievable too! I can think of hundreds of times that God could have just as easily burnt me up for what I did or thought, or said! And those 100s of times were in the last MONTH!

Praise the Lord that He sent His Son Jesus to be the ultimate sacrifice. I know without a doubt that I do not qualify for any of it. I have cut so many corners in my life. I have thought that I knew/know it all and can figure it out for myself.

I answered to the can you sense when God is pleased with your worship by when I feel the holy spirit. When I get chills, when I am prompted to raise my hands, when I am just warm with LOVE! That doesn’t happen as often as I hope for it to, but I sure feel validated when it does….

    Anyone else have any thoughts?

Oh yeah! Inexpressable joy, unexplainable peace, the desire to dance, and of course for me, when I’m talking to the Lord in tounges. That doesn’t just happen everyday but when I’m ushered into the throne room I can’t stop the praises until He is thru with me.

I too should have been burnt toast many times in the last month for attitudes or thoughts, sometimes actual words… but his mercy is new every morning. Isn’t God wonderful!?!?!

Sometimes I am validated by others expressing their gratitude or appreciation and I actually feel that is coming from God being pleased. It doesn’t mean I totally rely on others’ opinions for my worth, but it might mean I’m on the right track. I see that as a gift from God when people speak words of love or encouragement. I also see a hug from a sticky little kid as a gift too. I also feel ‘warm fuzzies’ during worship or just plain awe at something I see in nature.

I am also grateful that we are not burnt up each time we do not follow God’s commands to the letter. It is quite humbling, and it’s also something that I struggle to explain to non-believers. How can God let bad things happen? It’s a very complex question that I am still struggling to explain, but I do have a very quick answer that is enough for me personally. BECAUSE HE IS GOD! It’s actually more than enough.

prayer is a special and unique connection with god, and it does not matter how long is your prayer or how short it is. Because i have heard a lengthy prayer and its really not better that the short prayer God hears and listen all prayers,no need to use big word you do not understand. When praying just believe, focus on god and not your surrounding and have faith in what you do and say and it will surely come to pass.
